Latest news about SGV - A fast
and simple program for simulating high energy physics experiments at colliding
beam detectors.
July 24 1998
Update : new version SGV 2.10
Functional Changes:
The geometry description now allows for a short-hand way of
defining repeating layers. See the User's Guide.
The geometry initialization now makes more checks, and tries
to report the sources of problems.
The geometry initialization now sorts cylinders (planes) in R
(Z), before loading into the internal geometry data-base.
Hence, the input-file no longer needs to be sorted.
A steering card PRDET has been defined. If true, a printing of the
detector geometries as loaded internally in SGV is produced.
The possibility to have several detector geometries loaded in
a single run has been revised, and should now work correctly.
There is now a possibility to set the random-number generator
seeds. On VMS, there is an option to generate the seeds automatically
from the wall-clock. A UNIX version of this feature is foreseen for
the next minor update. For details, see the User's Guide.
Bug fixes :
A variable declaration in the External Read version of ZEUGEN
was missing. This has been fixed.
The random switching between processes, when several were generated at
in the same run in SUSYGEN was not correct.
This has been fixed.
Note, however, that this will only work if the processes are
selected with the SUSYGEN card PROCSEL, not if the logical
cards ZINO, WINO, SELECTRON etc. are used.
In the course of the revision of the multiple-geometry option,
it was discovered that the geometry access routines were not
correct if more than one detector was loaded at the same time.
This has been fixed, but the calling sequence of these routines
had to be changed. The routines concerned are:
The difference is that the geometry-number (IGEO or IGEOM)
should be REMOVED from the argument list.
Documentation :
The users guide and reference manual has been updated
due to the changes above.
The example title-file has been updated to include the new
steering cards.
Interface considerations :
Please look at the SUSYGEN version of ZEUGEN in sgvuser.car.
It contains instruction on how to use the latest SUSYGEN
(version 2.20/03), which has changed the calling sequence
to SUSEVE wrt. previous versions.
